Which heart is which

Bold Mathematical Script letters (complete, no borrowed glyphs) with the white heart suit โ™ก (U+2661) around each word. โ™ก is a text symbol, drawn in the current text colour; the red heart โค๏ธ is an emoji with a fixed colour and is not used here. Words are detected as runs of letters or digits, so an emoji standing alone between words is not wrapped. Digits become bold digits so a date inside the hearts matches the letters.

Five characters look like a heart and behave very differently. Two are card suits, one is a bullet, one is a Georgian letter that the internet adopted, and one is the character most systems draw as a red emoji.

The characters Cursive with hearts adds
CharacterUnicode nameCode pointWhat it does hereCopy
โ™กWhite heart suitU+2661A card suit. Drawn as an outline in the text colour on almost every system.
โ™ฅBlack heart suitU+2665Filled, and a text character by default โ€” though some platforms still substitute a red emoji for it.
โฅRotated heavy black heart bulletU+2765A typographic bullet; narrower, and never turns into an emoji.
แƒฆGeorgian letter ghanU+10E6A real letter of the Georgian alphabet, borrowed for its shape.
โคHeavy black heartU+2764Emoji-capable, so most phones and chat apps draw it as a red emoji with emoji spacing, even without a variation selector.

Why the hearts sit around each word

This style puts a white heart on both sides of every word, using the bold script alphabet so the letters hold their own against the ornaments. The heart is the Unicode text symbol โ™ก (U+2661), not the emoji, so it stays the same colour as the surrounding text instead of turning red.

Word-by-word wrapping means a two-word name gets four hearts. For a single heart pair around a whole phrase, type it as one word or edit the pasted result. Words are detected as runs containing at least one letter or digit, so a lone emoji between two words is left bare rather than wrapped โ€” a heart on each side of a heart emoji would be noise. Ornaments are placed outside the letters, never attached to them, which is why this style survives more apps than the combining-mark styles do.

Where per-word hearts read well

  • Couple and anniversary posts. Names and dates wrapped in hearts, without emoji taking over the line.
  • Valentine's and birthday messages. A wrapped greeting in a card, a text or a comment.
  • Fan and stan accounts. The heart-wrapped name is a recognisable bio format in fandom spaces.

Colour, spacing and the emoji problem

Heart-wrapped names are common in couple posts, anniversary captions and fan accounts on Instagram, where the white heart โ™ก renders as an outline in the text colour. Discord shows the heart at full size. X renders it in display names and bios. TikTok draws โ™ก slightly smaller than the letters, hence the Limited mark. Because every word gets its own pair of hearts, a two-word name has four; type it as one word if you want a single pair.

If the heart turns into an emoji

If the hearts render but the letters do not, the destination has the Miscellaneous Symbols block (where โ™ก lives) but not the Mathematical Alphanumeric block โ€” use plain letters between the hearts instead. If the hearts show as boxes, replace โ™ก with the โค๏ธ emoji, which every platform supports, at the cost of a fixed red colour. For a single pair of hearts around a whole phrase rather than every word, type the phrase and delete the inner hearts after pasting.

Cursive with hearts โ€” questions

Why is the heart white and not red?

โ™ก is a text symbol, drawn in the current text colour. The red heart is an emoji with its own fixed colour. Replace โ™ก with โค๏ธ after pasting if you want the emoji.

Can I get hearts only at the ends, not around every word?

Type the phrase without spaces or with a joiner, or copy the output and delete the inner hearts. The letters themselves are identical to bold cursive.

Does TikTok show the hearts?

Yes in bios and comments, though TikTok's font renders โ™ก slightly smaller than the letters. Usernames do not accept it.

Do the hearts count toward a bio character limit?

Yes โ€” every โ™ก is one character, so a two-word name gains four. Instagram's 150-character bio and X's 160 are usually fine; TikTok's 80-character bio fills fast, so keep heart-wrapped text to a name or two words there.

Can I use a different heart, like โ™ฅ or โค?

Yes. โ™ฅ (U+2665, black heart suit) is a filled text heart in the same block and renders wherever โ™ก does; โค without the variation selector is also text. Paste the output and replace the hearts โ€” the letters are untouched.

Rendering notes on this page describe how the current system fonts (Apple Symbols on iOS and macOS, Segoe UI Symbol on Windows, Noto Sans Math on Android) draw these characters and which fields each platform accepts them in. They are not the result of testing every app version, and apps change fonts and rules; paste a short sample before relying on a style for something that matters.
