Every separator, on one word
Light script letters (with the eleven borrowed glyphs of that alphabet) separated by a hair space (U+200A), the narrowest space Unicode defines โ roughly a sixth of a normal space in most fonts. Spaces are inserted only between letters, never beside an existing space, so words stay distinct. Because the hair spaces are real characters, a spaced name will not match a plain search for the same name, and a hashtag containing it will break: keep the searchable version plain.

Letter-spacing without CSS
Letter-spacing is a CSS property, and CSS does not travel with pasted text. This style fakes it with a Unicode hair space (U+200A) between every letter โ the narrowest space Unicode defines, about a sixth of a normal space in most fonts โ so the airy tracking survives in a bio or a caption.
Words stay separate because the generator only inserts hair spaces between letters, never around existing spaces. Some platforms collapse runs of whitespace; the hair space usually survives because it is not an ordinary space, but it can be trimmed at the very start or end of a field.
The width you get is not fixed. A hair space is defined by its role, not by a measurement, so each font decides how wide to draw it: a text face may give it a sixth of an em, a symbol fallback font rather more. That is why the same spaced line looks tighter on one device than another, and why the ladder below is worth trying before you settle on a width.
Two side effects are worth knowing before you use it for anything you need people to find. A spaced word no longer matches its plain spelling in a search box, on the platform or in a browser, because the spaces between the letters are real characters. And a long spaced phrase can wrap between any two letters rather than between words, since every gap is now a legal break point โ which is why this style suits one word or a short line rather than a sentence.
Where airy text helps
- Editorial and fashion bios. Wide tracking is the look of a magazine masthead.
- Single-word titles. One spaced word โ a name, a brand, a mood โ reads as a wordmark.
- Quiet section labels. Tracked-out labels separate parts of a long caption without ornaments.
- Dividers between blocks. A spaced word above a paragraph works like a small heading in fields that give you no formatting controls at all.
Wrapping, search and copy-paste
Letter-spaced text is the look of a fashion or editorial bio on Instagram, and the hair spaces render there at their intended narrow width. Discord and X render them the same way. On some older Android system fonts the hair space falls back to a normal space, which widens the effect but does not break it. Very occasionally a field trims a hair space at the start or end of the text; the letters are unaffected.
If the spacing collapses
If a platform collapses or strips the hair spaces, the text simply becomes ordinary cursive script โ nothing breaks, the tracking is just lost. Some fields trim a leading or trailing hair space; the letters are unaffected. Because the spaces are real characters, a spaced name will not match a plain search for the same name, so keep the searchable version plain and use spaced cursive only as a decorative line. If the script letters render unevenly, spaced bold cursive is not offered here, but you can paste bold cursive and add hair spaces by hand.
Spaced cursive โ questions
Why are the spaces so small?
They are hair spaces, the narrowest space Unicode has. A normal space would break each word into single letters and confuse search and line wrapping.
Will search still find my name if it is spaced out?
Probably not โ the hair spaces are real characters, so 'A n n a' no longer matches 'Anna'. Keep your searchable name plain and use spaced cursive for a decorative line.
Does the spacing survive on Discord and X?
Yes on both, in display names and bios. Very old Android system fonts show the hair space as a normal space, which widens the effect.
Why not use a normal space between letters?
A normal space turns one word into six single-letter words: line wrapping can split the name, search treats each letter separately, and screen readers pause between every letter. A hair space keeps the visual tracking without those effects on most platforms.
Can I space out bold cursive instead of light script?
Not with a preset here, but you can: copy bold cursive from the homepage and insert hair spaces by hand, or copy the spaced output and paste it into the bold cursive card.
Rendering notes on this page describe how the current system fonts (Apple Symbols on iOS and macOS, Segoe UI Symbol on Windows, Noto Sans Math on Android) draw these characters and which fields each platform accepts them in. They are not the result of testing every app version, and apps change fonts and rules; paste a short sample before relying on a style for something that matters.
